The Monday claims report used to take me three hours.
With Claude and a written out checklist it took twenty minutes today. For anybody who does a recurring report, there is nothing clever here. The report summarises open motor claims by age, by value and by who is handling them, and I used to build it by hand from a spreadsheet export every Monday morning. What I did was write out, in plain English, the exact steps I take: filter to open, group by age bracket, flag anything over thirty days, count by handler, then a short paragraph on anything unusual. I pasted that above the exported CSV and asked for the summary in that order. The first two attempts were wrong. The first ignored the thirty day flag completely, and the second invented a handler who does not work here. The third one I would have sent without changing a word.
The first two being wrong is the part nobody puts in the post. Everyone shows you the third one and it looks like magic.
Writing the steps out by hand first is the whole trick, and it feels like twenty wasted minutes right up until the first time you do it.
